Shannon has been a part of the natural medicine industry for the past 4 years. Combining evidence-based naturopathic treatment with traditional herbal medicine, Shannon combines the two for an individualised comprehensive holistic treatment plan.

Shannon provides adjunctive oncology care for patients who have received a breast cancer diagnosis, as well as other hormonally driven cancers, supporting those undergoing conventional oncology medicine treatments. Shannon is passionate about reducing the side effects of treatments short term, and the possible longer side effects of treatments. Shannon works alongside Oncologists, sharing the care and communicating treatment plans.

Due to her experience with her mother (who received a cancer diagnosis some 20 years ago), Shannon has a unique approach and particular interest in working with cancer patients. Shannon has been a part of a team at ReMed who have developed a treatment program for breast cancer patients to support traditional medical care with natural medicine, to reduce side effects of conventional treatments, improving quality of life and improving mind and body health to support remission.

Shannon has extensive experience working with breast cancer patients at various stages of their diagnosis. Through chemotherapy she works to improve quality of life, including; reducing the effects of mucositis, nausea, diarrhoea,  peripheral neuropathy, anxiety  and fatigue. Patients are often surprised with how well they are coping and their ability to work and lead a normal life, during these times.

Shannon has seen positive results in reducing the side effects of hormonal treatments such as tamoxifen and arimidex, particularly in reducing night sweats and hot flashes, using herbal medicine. Patients have reported complete resolution of these side effects.

Shannon has extensive knowledge in food nutrition, or as she likes to call it food as medicine. Shannon works to create a diet plan to improve efficacy of treatments, reduce side effects, improve fatigue and assist the body to complete treatment programs and to live preventatively.

Shannon works from a research, evidence base, utilising the pathology department in the clinic, to gain a clear understanding of what is going on in your body. With a keen interest in the role of nutrigenomics – understanding your genetic blueprint and how you can utilise diet and lifestyle to reduce your individual risks. Shannon utilises complementary nutritional and herbal medicines to assist in individualised treatment plans.

An adjunctive care model means that we work alongside your conventional treatment to:

  • Optimise health and well-being

  • Avoid negative interactions with cancer treatments

  • Where possible, enhance positive interactions and potentiate sensitivity of cancer cells to conventional treatments

  • Reduce the side effects of your treatment and assist in the completion of your recommended conventional treatment plan
